How are your closing sales skills? Can your sales techniques use a little work? There are hundreds of leads at your fingertips. So what do you do now? If you do not follow up and haven’t learned closing sales skills the leads are worthless. If your business is not flourishing, you may want to look at your sales techniques, customer service skills and closing sales skills. Here are some tips that may help you with your salesmanship.

1.) Get to know your own personal selling process and personality; practice your sales techniques. You can start the conversation with small talk. Ask the person questions. This will allow you to direct the conversation and get to know your prospective customer by the answers they give you. Make a connection with the person you are speaking with. Work with the assumption that your prospect wants what you sell.

2.) Tell them how you got their name and number. Be honest. Confirm with them that this is a good decision. This affirmation will add to your credibility, commitment to your product and customer, ultimately building your closing sales skills and your customer service skills.

3.) Get them engaged in the process and the conversation. Remember, most of your prospects want what you came to sell. Align your thinking with what your prospect is saying. Listen. Be confident, your confidence, enthusiasm and energy will be recognized and it is contagious. Remember to smile. It can be heard in your voice. It is important to remember this when using you personal sales techniques.

4.) Some prospects don’t fully know what they want, what they need, and what they value. Take what you have learned from the conversation and identify the areas that your product would benefit your prospect. Find the prospect’s unique wants and motivation.

Once you have fine tuned your closing sales skills, you will begin to see the changes in your business. As you work with your prospect, they will begin to see your commitment to your product, how serious you are and that they do want what you are offering them. Practice your closing sales skills and your customer service skills; because this is a learning experience, you will learn by doing. Don’t be hard on yourself if you are not closing every sale, even the leaders and experts don’t have that high a percentage. When you make this mind shift of not trying to close everyone, you will find that your sales closing ratio goes up significantly because you are selling to prospects more likely to make a purchase from you.
